Dr Janelle McDonald

Medical Director (BMed, FRANZCOG, CREI)

Dr Janelle McDonald is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has undertaken advanced training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. After completing sub-speciality training in this area, Janelle received the Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) and was the Medical Director at Sydney IVF (ACT) for five years. She has been working in IVF and infertility clinics for more than 15 years and is currently an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). She has expertise in the management of hormonal problems from childhood through to menopause, including those with premature ovarian dysfunction. Janelle likes to get to know her patients and their families well and to involve them in decision-making throughout their treatment. Janelle offers comprehensive care for all types of female and male infertility including IVF, ICSI and surgical sperm retrieval.

Dr Julie Lukic

Fertility Specialist (MBBS, FRANZCOG, REI McGill)

Dr Julie Lukic began her formal training in obstetrics and gynaecology at The Royal Hospital for Women in 1996, where she became a Fellow in Reproductive Medicine. In 2004, she completed a three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the prestigious McGill University in Montreal. Julie is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), a member of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) and a member of the American and European Societies of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM, ESHRE). Julie has completed over 4000 oocyte collections and embryo transfers and is skilled in all aspects of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) cycle management. She also has training in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, focusing on the surgical treatment of infertility and in 2006 completed the Advanced Integrated Training Program in Minimal Access Pelvic Surgery.

Dr Susan George

Fertility Specialist (MBBS, FRANZCOG, MRMed)

Dr Susan George is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with a Masters of Reproductive Medicine from the University of NSW and extensive experience in the treatment of infertility. Dr George trained at Modbury Public Hospital in Adelaide before returning to India where she was instrumental in the establishment and development of the reproductive unit at the Christian Medical College in Vellore India. Dr George returned to Australia after 11 years at the Christian Medical College where she was Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Following 2 years with Queensland Health as a staff Specialist Dr George joined Primary IVF to pursue her love of reproductive medicine. She joins us with extensive experience in fertility gynaecology and assisted reproductive medicine.

Dr Jim Heymann

Fertility Specialist (MBBS, FRANZCOG)

Dr Heymann is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists and a member of the Fertility Society of Australia. No stranger to Brisbane Dr Heymann completed his Secondary education in Oxley, Brisbane. Dr Heymann received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1985. Jim completed his Obstetrics and Gynaecology Fellowship as a Senior Registrar at Salisbury Hospital in England, 2001. In 2004 Jim attended Advanced Training in Laparoscopic Surgery in Sydney and was awarded Best Surgical Award. In 2005 Jim underwent intensive training in Assisted Reproductive Technologies under the mentorship of Professor Kovacs. Since undergoing this training Jim has been affiliated with Monash IVF in North Queensland. With 13 years as a Private Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and 11 years in Assisted Reproductive Technology with Monash IVF Jim joins us with his extensive experience in Laparoscopic Surgery and Fertility. Jim is an extremely passionate specialist, who prides himself in providing warm, compassionate care. Jim is also fluent in Bahasa Indonesia.

Associate Professor Christopher James

Fertility Specialist (OAM, MBBS, GDipCom, FRANZCOG, CREI)

Clinical Associate Professor Christopher James graduated from the University of Sydney and completed his medical and specialist training at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Sydney, and the Royal Hospital for Women, Paddington. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1979. He was a founding Member, then Fellow, of the Royal Australian (now the Royal Australian and New Zealand) College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and entered private practice as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Wollongong in 1980. He was Fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada from 1988 to 1990, training in pelvic microsurgery, laparoscopic tubal surgery reproductive endocrinology and IVF. Returning to Wollongong in 1990, he re-entered practice as a Gynaecologist subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He was the first gynaecologist to perform microsurgical tubal sterilisation reversals in the Illawarra region and introduced laparoscopic treatment of fallopian tube disease and ectopic pregnancy in addition to the medical treatment of ectopic pregnancy with methotrexate. He was the first to adopt hysteroscopic surgery for the treatment of an intrauterine septum, fibroids, polyps and adhesions. He achieved the first pregnancy in the Illawarra using pulsatile GnRH and later, with gonadotrophins. In 1994 Associate Professor James was instrumental in the establishment of IVF in the Illawarra region. In 1995 he was awarded Certification as a subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (CREI) by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He practices at Primary IVF in Sydney and maintains an active teaching role in the Graduate School of Medicine of the University of Wollongong. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2012 for services to medicine and medical education.

Dr Linda Walmsley

Fertility Specialist

Dr Linda Walmsley is a South African trained Obstetrician and Gynaecologist currently residing in Melbourne. She completed her undergraduate training in South Africa and worked for a few years in regional and rural centres gaining experience in her chosen field. She completed her post graduate studies at the University of Cape Town. Once qualified, she remained in the department as a senior lecturer and consultant and trained further in Reproductive Medicine. Linda relocated to Melbourne in 2016 for the opening of the new branch of Primary IVF where she now works as full time Fertility Specialist.

Dr Santanu Baruah

MBBS, MRCOG, FRANZCOG, FRCOG, CGES

Dr Santanu (Sunny) Baruah was trained in UK (London and Birmingham) as a Gynaecologist with special interest in Infertility, General Gynaecology and Advanced laparoscopic surgery.
For clinical work and surgical excellence, Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) and American Association of Gynaecology Laparosscpist (AAGL) in USA have awarded him as “Centre of Excellence in Minimally Invasive surgery award” (COEMIG) in 2015 and 2018.

He started his fertility career in CRM, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and London Fertility Centre, Harley Street, London, prior to migrating to Perth in 2009.

Dr Baruah has extensive experience in managing various gynaecological problems such as menstrual disorders, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, prolapse and pelvic pain. He practices Gynaecology at WaGynaescope at Joondalup Private Hospital.
He is well known amongst his peers for his keen interest in minimal-access gynaecological surgery and he is proficient in a wide range of complex laparoscopicand hysteroscopic surgeries. He is accredited to perform (level 5/6) advanced gynaecological laparoscopy surgeries.

His credential includes: Fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Fellow of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK, Member of American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists, Member of European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology

Dr Oybek Rustamov

MRCOG, DFFP, MD

Dr Oybek Rustamov, Member of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of United Kingdom (2007) and has completed Sub-specialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2015). He has nearly 20 years experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and over 8 years experience in IVF.

He holds a Postgraduate Research Degree (MD) from University of Manchester (2015) and has extensive scientific expertise in Evaluation of Ovarian Reserve and Ovarian Stimulation in IVF cycles. He has clinical expertise in Minimal Access Gynaecological and Reproductive Surgery.

Dr Sascha Edelstein

Fertility Specialist
MPhil MMed MBChB FCOG FRANZCOG Certificate Reproductive Medicine (SA)

Dr Sascha Edelstein has been a successful Fertility Specialist since qualifying

with a Certificate in Reproductive Medicine in 2008 (University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa).  After completing his specialist training as an Obstetrician/Gynaeccologist, Sascha undertook research in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, obtaining a MPhil and MMed (UCT) for this work. Sascha spent some time working at the Royal Free Hospital (London) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before deciding to specialise.

After completing his academic training, Sascha moved into private practice as an OBGYN, with special interest in Reproductive Medicine. In 2013 he became the Director of the Holistic Assisted Reproduction Treatment (HART) Clinic at the Chris Barnard Hospital in Cape Town. Sascha worked at the HART Clinic until he was invited to join the inaugral team opening Primary IVF in Melbourne (2016).

Over the years Sascha has been presented with various academic awards and scholarships, including the SJ BEHRMAN PRIZE (2008) for best dissertation, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Dept O&G)(UCT); the CECIL CRAIG AWARD (2008) Registrar award for excellence, (Dept O&G, UCT); the Best Gynaecological Research Presentation (2007, Dept O&G, UCT); World Bank Scholarship (2001); National Research Foundation of SA Scholarship (1999, 2000); South African Breweries Scholarship (1999); and the Cuthbert Crichton Award for Obstetrics (1994).

On a personal note, Sascha and his wife Cal went through assisted reproduction in order to conceive their 2 children. In addition to the medical knowledge, Sascha has a deep understanding of the psycho-social journey that couples and individuals go through when undergoing assisted reproduction.

Dr Gayatri  Borude

MBBS MD DNB FRANZCOG, Masters in Reproductive medicine

Dr Gayatri Borude is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA).She is skilled in all aspects of assisted reproduction and IVF and has over 15 years’ experience in Obstetrics and gynaecology.

Dr Borude obtained her Master’s Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from NTR University of Health Sciences India in 2002 with 2 Gold Medals for obtaining the highest marks in the University and State. In 2003, she went on to obtain the Diplomate of National Board of Examinations (OBGYN) from New Delhi, India. After migrating to Australia in 2006, she obtained her Fellowship with RANZCOG in 2010.

She completed her Masters in Reproductive medicine from University of New South Wales in 2014.

She joins us with extensive experience in IVF and ART. Dr Borude offers comprehensive care for all types of female and male infertility including IVF, ICSI and surgical sperm retrieval. She has special interest in minimal invasive surgery and has received advanced training in laparoscopic surgery culminating in Level 5 laparoscopy skills offering a range of gynaecological services.

DR Borude speaks fluent Hindi, Telugu ,Kannada and Marathi.
